I support AI regulations that establish both legal and ethical protections for consumers and online users. These protections should include, but not be limited to, ensuring that users’ personal information is not shared without their explicit consent and that additional safeguards are in place for vulnerable populations, including minors, older adults, and persons with disabilities.

As AI continues to evolve rapidly, I believe regulatory frameworks should promote transparency and public understanding of how AI systems are intended to be developed and used by companies. Appropriate government oversight and clear regulatory guidelines are essential to ensure that AI operates within a legal and ethical framework that serves the public interest.

At the same time, I believe there must be a balance between effective oversight and fostering innovation. Regulations should focus on preventing or mitigating real harms while providing clear, transparent standards that help educate both developers and the public. Well-designed regulation can promote responsible innovation without unnecessarily hindering technological advancement.

Achieving the right balance between necessary oversight and overregulation will require ongoing collaboration among government, industry, researchers, and civil society. By fostering open dialogue among stakeholders, we can develop policies that encourage continued innovation while ensuring robust protections for consumers and maintaining public trust in AI technologies.

I support policies that promote environmental conservation and advance efforts to reduce carbon emissions and greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with established environmental goals. Protecting our natural resources while building a more sustainable future is essential for the health and well-being of current and future generations.

This includes implementing tax incentives for individuals and families who adopt environmentally sustainable practices, such as installing solar energy systems, improving energy efficiency, or participating in other conservation initiatives. Incentivizing these efforts can encourage broader community participation in reducing our environmental footprint.

I also support holding corporations accountable for practices that cause significant environmental harm. Companies that contribute disproportionately to pollution or environmental degradation should bear greater responsibility for mitigating those impacts. Revenue generated through these measures should be invested in protecting vulnerable communities that are disproportionately affected by environmental hazards, while also strengthening conservation efforts for our national parks, public lands, and wildlife.

Finally, I support policies that proactively prevent further environmental degradation through responsible stewardship, sustainable development, and science-informed decision-making. By balancing environmental protection with economic growth, we can create policies that preserve our natural resources, strengthen community resilience, and ensure a healthier environment for future generations.

I support policies that reduce the cost of healthcare, including prescription medications, co-payments, deductibles, and preventive care services. The rising cost of healthcare places a disproportionate burden on low-income individuals and families, often creating barriers to accessing the care they need.

I also support expanding access to free and low-cost programs that provide health education, preventive care, and chronic disease management, particularly for vulnerable communities that experience higher rates of preventable illness and poorer health outcomes. Investing in prevention and education can improve overall health while reducing long-term healthcare costs.

The constituents I seek to represent as a State Representative include many immigrants and low- to middle-income families. Expanding equitable access to affordable healthcare services, preventive programs, and community resources is an important step toward reducing health disparities and improving health outcomes across the community.

Students seeking to attend college should receive meaningful financial support so they can successfully complete their education without carrying burdensome student loan debt that delays major life milestones, such as purchasing a home, starting a family, or building long-term financial stability.

To reduce the financial burden on students, financial aid packages and need-based grants should be expanded, particularly for low- and middle-income students. By increasing grant funding, students can rely less on loans and graduate with significantly less debt.

Beyond tuition, policymakers must also address the rising cost of housing, textbooks, transportation, and other essential college-related expenses. No student should have to choose between purchasing textbooks and paying for food or housing. Expanding support for these non-tuition costs and increasing wages for work-study positions would help students meet their basic needs while remaining focused on their education.

We should also increase investment in vocational schools, technical education, and skilled trade programs while strengthening partnerships with employers. These collaborations can provide students with paid, hands-on learning opportunities that allow them to earn an income while developing the skills needed for high-demand careers.

Finally, the student loan forgiveness process should be streamlined for graduates who enter public service professions. Making loan forgiveness more accessible for teachers, healthcare workers, first responders, and other public servants would help address workforce shortages, encourage careers in essential fields, and allow graduates to achieve important financial milestones sooner.

To promote the development of graduate students and early-career scientists in my community, I will first seek to understand the needs of the scientific community and identify its key stakeholders. By fostering collaboration among scientists, academic institutions, industry partners, and relevant organizations, I aim to support community dialogue and help build an ecosystem that facilitates mentorship, professional development, and meaningful training opportunities.

I will advocate for increased access to paid fellowships and training grants that enable graduate students and early-career scientists to develop their skills, gain valuable research and professional experience, and earn an income while advancing their careers.

I will also encourage greater resource sharing so that graduate students and early-career scientists have improved access to professional networks, mentorship opportunities, and information about funding and career development. By engaging directly with these individuals, I will work to better understand their priorities and challenges. Together with colleagues and community partners, I will explore opportunities to allocate resources effectively and strengthen fellowship and grant programs that support the next generation of scientists throughout their career development.
