Q1 What advisory mechanisms will you implement to ensure that evidence and scientific findings play a crucial role in your policymaking process?

Policymaking Process

“I have a team of interns that work in my office to review bills and overlay them with data from vetted sources to ensure we make informed decisions on our votes rather than relying on fact sheets distributed in the halls of the capitol.”

Q2 Colorado farmers are facing multiple threats, amidst water scarcity and rising prices for fertilizer and other imported materials. As agriculture is our #1 export sector, in what ways do you imagine using your role to support evidence-based advancements to protect and support our farmers and natural resources in the years ahead?

AgricultureEnvironment

“I will do my best to listen to a range of perspectives on the matter, to include those who are directly working in the industry and fields. I will then take the feedback and research their suggestions against previous policies to determine if this was an effective strategy and had a positive outcome.”

Q3 America has a growing AI industry, supporting cutting-edge innovation but raising issues of resource use, privacy, and economics. What is the right balance of costs and benefits for new data center construction in Colorado, and how would your policies accomplish that balance?

Artificial IntelligenceEnvironment

“If I had the answer to this, I would be the most valuable person in the world right now. I don’t think anyone has the “right” answer or balance to this question. As this conversation evolves, I believe having a tiered system is helpful so all data centers (and the users) are not bucketed into the same category. Meaning - I do not want to slow innovation for healthcare companies to use AI to help with medical breakthroughs and they should not be treated the same way our neighbors (and my husband!) are using AI every evening for recipe creation.”

Q4 Colorado has experienced a lingering measles outbreak since March of 2025. What evidence-based policies do you support to improve community and preventive health for your constituents, for infectious diseases and other threats?

Public Health

“I ran a vaccine bill last year to help with vaccine access to ensure people continue to get vaccines and keep our communities and themselves safe.”

Q5 What are your opinions on the current state of science literacy, and how could K-12 education standards be adapted to form a better public understanding of and relationship building in science?

K-12 Science EducationTrust in Science

“Sometimes I feel like we are far behind on all things education related. Perhaps if we funded our schools in abundence, we would be more ahead, educated, and healthy from an individual and community level.”
