Q1 What advisory mechanisms will you implement to ensure that evidence and scientific findings play a crucial role in your policymaking process?

Policymaking Process

“Good public policy should be grounded in evidence, research, and the best available scientific findings. As a legislator I will actively seek out credible expertise before making decisions while also listening carefully to the people who would be affected by those decisions.”

Q2 Colorado farmers are facing multiple threats, amidst water scarcity and rising prices for fertilizer and other imported materials. As agriculture is our #1 export sector, in what ways do you imagine using your role to support evidence-based advancements to protect and support our farmers and natural resources in the years ahead?

AgricultureEnvironment

“We need to approach agriculture policy grounded in protecting Colorado’s finite natural resources while making sure farmers and ranchers have the tools to remain economically viable. We should put research, producer experience, and measurable results at the center of policy making. We need to continue the strong partnerships between the Department of Agriculture, CSU Extension, conservation districts, and federal agencies that can help build that evidence base.”

Q3 America has a growing AI industry, supporting cutting-edge innovation but raising issues of resource use, privacy, and economics. What is the right balance of costs and benefits for new data center construction in Colorado, and how would your policies accomplish that balance?

Artificial IntelligenceEnvironment

“The policy goal should be to allow responsible investment while ensuring that the costs of that investment, particularly electricity, water, grid infrastructure, and environmental impacts are not shifted onto Colorado families and existing businesses.”

Q4 Colorado has experienced a lingering measles outbreak since March of 2025. What evidence-based policies do you support to improve community and preventive health for your constituents, for infectious diseases and other threats?

Public Health

“When people are vaccinated we reach herd immunity people do not get sick. The recommendations of medical organizations should be respected.”

Q5 What are your opinions on the current state of science literacy, and how could K-12 education standards be adapted to form a better public understanding of and relationship building in science?

K-12 Science EducationTrust in Science

“As a former science teacher, I believe science literacy is fundamental to a healthy democracy and strong economy. I would focus on strengthening K-12 science education without turning science into a partisan issue. Standards should emphasize hands-on learning critical thinking, data analysis, scientific inquiry, and opportunities of students to work with real-world problems.”
