“I’ll start with my B.S. in Mathematics with a Physics minor. I’ll use my experience as a math teacher. And I’ll welcome input from the science community.”
Q2 Colorado farmers are facing multiple threats, amidst water scarcity and rising prices for fertilizer and other imported materials. As agriculture is our #1 export sector, in what ways do you imagine using your role to support evidence-based advancements to protect and support our farmers and natural resources in the years ahead?
“I plan to use my education, experience as a teacher, and experience living in rural Colorado to help guide my urban legislators toward prudent policies that affect ranching and farming. I’ll also use it to communicate to ranching and farming communities about proposed policies.”
Q3 America has a growing AI industry, supporting cutting-edge innovation but raising issues of resource use, privacy, and economics. What is the right balance of costs and benefits for new data center construction in Colorado, and how would your policies accomplish that balance?
“China has 4 times as many people as the U.S. The U.S. has at least 10 times the number of data centers and almost twice the computing power compared to China. I support a moratorium on new data centers until such time as science proves a) there is a need for more; b) they can be built without harming the environment; and c) they can be built and operated without the general citizenry paying for it.”
Q4 Colorado has experienced a lingering measles outbreak since March of 2025. What evidence-based policies do you support to improve community and preventive health for your constituents, for infectious diseases and other threats?
“The evidence is clear. People who are talking other people into avoiding vaccines are idiots.”
Q5 What are your opinions on the current state of science literacy, and how could K-12 education standards be adapted to form a better public understanding of and relationship building in science?
“One of the best things we can do to improve science and math education in public schools is to start re-emphasizing the arts in public schools. Science and math require creativity to master.”
