RepublicanQ2 Delaware’s electricity is delivered through PJM interconnection, the regional grid operator for the mid-atlantic. Across the PJM region, electricity demand is rising in part due to large-scale data center development. What evidence-based policies, if any, would you support addressing the effects of AI-driven data center growth on electricity costs and grid reliability for Delaware’s residents?
I am of the opinion that data centers will be needed to support our growing technology demands and, as a result, the power to run them. Since Delaware, in their abject ignorance has chosen to allow or eliminate all electricity production in the State, these data centers should be required to establish on site energy generation to sustain their power requirements. Any excess power they generate can be sold to the local utility (Delmarva Power) at market rates. New technologies such as Salt Reactors, Hydrogen, etc. Should be promoted by the State and cease all green nonsense until it becomes affordable.
Q3 Federal agencies including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) project that Delaware’s coastal communities face increasing risk of tidal flooding in the coming decades. What evidence-based policies, if any, would you support to help these communities respond to increased coastal flooding risk?
If one chooses build or live on or near the water, one must be prepared to address such issues when they arise.While emergency services funded by government would be activated should lives be at risk, it is not the responsibility of the State to bail out those who made these choices and lose their property. This is what insurance is for.
Q9 Delaware funds youth substance-use prevention programs through the Division of Public Health and the state budget. According to the 2024 Delaware School Survey, 26% of Delaware 11th graders perceive great risk in regular marijuana use, down from 50% in 1999. What evidence-based policies, if any, would you support to address substance use among young people in Delaware and ensure drug usage decline?
Because cannabis was ridiculously caegirized as a schedule 1 drug by the Feds, no research into the effects of cannabis use was funded in the US. Israel, however, has some enlightening data of those who used cannabis and the effects fed to American by these drug czars is mostly fiction. The fata supporting a reduction in the usage is a positive. But, lets be honest, kids will experiment. We need to ensure they are educated with fact based data and not the propaganda that has been spread for decades.
